OK.. ive done a couple of these and haven't gotten any negative feedback, so what the hell.

With show season getting off to a great start, and all of us getting a bunch of parts in due to our tax returns and just wanting to have something different ready for the show season. Please keep one thing in mind... BE SAFE! Not only for yourself but others as well. Trust me... i build my truck one weekend at a time. I know what its like being in the garage at 2:40 am and having to be at work at 9:30. Please take your time to be safe.. use jackstands.. have fire extinguishers accessable.. the small things like that LOL. And don't try to cram a last min mod onto the vehicle to roll dangerous as hell to the show. Lets all have a good time at shows, and not be worried about where we can find a welder or a spare bag in the middle of nowhere. Take your time, do it right.. and be safe! I'm sure several of you remember the small spurt where mini truckers were losing their lives from freak accidents in garages... please please please learn from their mistakes.

Mike

PS- i know i know.. i always lay it out and then get a ton of questions...so what sparked this topic? i had a jack blow out on me last night... from which i had just crawled out from under the truck. Not to mention 4 years ago getting knocked out by a leaf spring after unbolting it (which knocked me out from under the truck which would have landed right on top of me). And tonight i spent 5 hours in the ER w/ my room mate because he punched threw a gum ball machine and destroyed a tendon in his right hand. So with that being said.. be safe.

Sound advice. I think most of us know of someone that had a close call with a jack. My neighbor had a camaro teetering on landscaping blocks for weeks and I myself have dropped a Taurus SHO off of a scissor jack.

When we get comfy working on cars it's all to easy to say, "I'll only be under here a second." We need to be sure to setup the jackstands. Otherwise, Fedgov will probably pass a law against working on our cars because it's unsafe for the children

Mullet, you should start a weekly column. Call it Inside Mike's Mind or something.

actually there are alot of cities in the o so great USA that says you cant have a vehicle outside that your working on already. I dont think they care about safety as much as ruining thier beautiful city's but anyway. I was laying in the bed of my truck once strapping stuff down with zipties threw the c-notch hole and all of the sudden the rear bag decides its gonna lose all of its air real slow. its when airlift was having all thier problems, but any how everybody stay safe and have a great show season.

yeah man i had a friend who was working on his dakota in his front yard when the truck fell off the jacks killing him instantly. ive also had close calls with jacks. turned out that the jsck was not placed right. 2yrs ago i was replacing my tranmission when i heard a screech, my friend told me to get outta there and BOOM! the fuckin truck fell! and can honestly say leo saved my life. so all you guys out there working on your trucks solo in the wee hours of the night have someone out there with you. i am one of these guys that will be out at night working on my truck by myself, but you just never know. so guys like mullet said BE SAFE!
