Has anyone had any problems with there rear u joint? It squeaks when i back up, annoying as hell. I think It's because of the lowering blocks, changed the angle of the driveshaft. But i looked into putting a new one in. You have to have it done at the dealership because it is a stake type U-joint. Never heard of that. Just wondering if anyone else has run into this situation. thanks guys
I've changed all of my joints, I just took the Shaft out, marked it, took it to a low key transmission-rear end shop, and they did it for like 10 bucks each..Theyre definately all replacable
Im almost 100% sure that you cant buy the front or rear u joints. What Ive done in the past is just had the driveshaft modified so that the u joint used in the middle by the carrier bearing can be used in the whole thing because that one is replaceable.
the front and rears can be bought at napa. i know this for a fact. I can actually even provide the part # once I get in to work tomorrow. i had a customer that needed them and our brand (precision) doesn't show a listing. he said he got them at napa the last time and this time came back to me with the box so i could keep it for future reference.
I took it to Power Drive(driveline specialists) They said the front and back are stake type U-Joints. And can't be replaced like normal. So they hacked off the old yoke and put one on that you can replace the u joint in the future.
I just did the ones in my friends truck and I got them at the local car quest and it was easy to change just take your time and make sure everything is really clean.
