I recently bought a b2200 and it needs quite a bit of work to get safetied. It needs all new brake lines a bunch of new bushings in the front and because we keep snaping rusty bolts it looke like im going to need new spindles and calipers as well. My plan was to get it safetied and then start on the sfbd. Should i continue with this plan or will i be able to get away with not getting it inspected before hand? I am just wondering what you guys think the inspection station would say if i brought in the truck with almost a completly new frame. I dont want to go through all the work to have the tell me i have to get another stock frame Thanks, Alex

as long as your frame is built strong and safe.. you should be fine. safety is key..

Im also a little worried because it will have ajustable suspension and will lay on the ground if a bag pops or something. Im sure my best bet would be to go ask at a shop. Thanks, Alex

I think it depends on who's doing the saftey. I know a few mechanics that won't even look at a vehicle that has been bagged. I know other's that are very picky looking for saftey valves etc so that if a bag blew going down the road at 80 it won't fall onto the frame. Maybe hang out at a local shop that does bagging and talk to other customers about where to get a saftey done.
I would also check with your insurance company in regards to the bags/modifications before going to far. Some will no longer cover you if the vehicle has been modified so dramatically. It's one thing to not tell them and another for them to find out later after an accident and then they tell you that you voided the policy and aren't covered.

Sorry to be a downer, the Ontario insurance companies have become very picky lately.

id get it safetied and insured before cuttin it. like crash said there are mechanics, and lots of em, that have the if it aint stock it aint right mentality.

yeah, get your insurance and pictures taken before you do any work. My insurance company thinks my truck is 6 feet in the air and is charcoal grey....

Statefarm wouldn't insure a truck that I think had lowering springs. But of course I didn't say it entirely and they ended up saying they will not insure anything with any suspension modifications whatsoever. It has to do with the new Ontario laws regarding street racing, everyone including insurance seems to be cracking down.
