Hi, i'm new to Bscene and i just got a 1993 B2200 last month and it's awesome. But i've got a problem. Twice i've been driving it around under normal conditions and the engine has just quit (everything else still works) and the fuse that controls the ignitions, fuel delivery, PCM etc. blew (i'f you're familiar with the fuse block under the dash, it's the second from the left in the top vertical row). The fuse is normally a 15amp fuse, and after it blew and we couldn't figure out the problem so we put in a 20amp fuse that lasted about 2 weeks, but now it just pops 20 amp fuses continuously without the truck ever firing up and when we put in a 30 amp it doesn't pop, but it won't start. I was just wondering if anyone had a similar problem with an B2200 EFI and what was causing it. Thanks for your help in advance and for an awesome forum.

well first off man, you never ever ever ever put a fuse over amped for the circuit, ever, its what fries shit ya dig? anyway its obviously a short somewhere. always start at the battery, follow it back, anything new installed? alarm? cd player? amp?

not to be a dick but wtf.... take that 30 amp fuse out man ...im pretty confident you have a short somewhere and what you essentialy did is turn your truck into a pile of kindeling thats just waiting for a match....you may have already damaged some components ( a 15 amp fuse was there for a reason).. but get out the multi meter and checkall the resistance in your wireing in all the systems related to that fuse

Well I had thesame problem and it was the computer for the truck that was going out. Make sure that you never replace a fuse with a big amped fuse. Go and check what that fuse is and see if there is a short or something going on...

Nah man, putting a higher amp fuse in the panel is fine, it's a common practise amoungst mechanics when they can't determine the problem for the exact safety reason you state. If you put a high amp fuse in the panel, the wire will overheat and burn, find the burnt wire and you've found the problem, no worries. I did just put in an aftermarket Tach, but it's grounded to a different circuit, so what else could the prblem be?

are you kidding me? thats awful, i would never let a mechanic like that touch my vehicle, "find the burnt wire and your good" fuck that man, you fry more shit than just the wire bud, i hope your kidding me. good luck on fixing it man, not trying to be a dick but thats not the way to "troubleshoot" anything electrical. good luck though.

sorry it took so long to get bacj to you all, i just wanted to make sure the problem didn't occur after me and my dad fixed it. The float attachement to the fuel pump that tells oyu the fuel level had fallen off the sending unit somehow and was lying in the bottom of the tank, leaving the ground wire to hang around in the tank. We reattached the float, installed a new pump (just the pump, not the whole unit) and reinstalled it. It's been about two and a half weeks since it broke down before and now it doesn't blow fuses ot anything, runs like a top.
