Hey guys, I was just wondering if anyone has dealt with Clarke? My teacher said he would rather not have me buy a welder from them since there is a place here that sells a package deal with a 220volt welder for like $300. I know you get what you pay for and all, but if anyone has used a Clarke welder for years on end with little problem, I might actually spend money to get one! I don't want to bite the bullet for a Lincoln thats like $700, but my teacher says he thinks its worth it since he knows I want to pursue auto body as a career...

if your teacher thinks its a good deal, and you trust his judgement, being that he's been doing it a while, and obviously had some experience, then go for it.

the main thing with welders it to look at their ratings ie. voltage/amprage/duty cycle, then check with the mfg's warranty. i will say this, most of the welders you see on construction sites are either lincoln or miller....

Clarke welders are rebranded welders from big name companies with lower quality components...they might work great for a while but they will be no where near as durable as the real deal. Lincoln or Miller all the way.,

i wouldn't buy it, we carry clarke and airco and firepower, they are all pretty crappy brands....

great warrenties tho......if it breaks, you get to keep both halves

save for a quality welder, especially if you want to be a bodyman.

Man, its a little depressing to hear that! I wish they Lincolns were'nt so friggin' expensive! Aye... I think I was told at the end of the school year, schools like ours have donated welders from Lincoln, so they are overstocked and sell them cheaper... If so, I guess that'll be my best bet!

I just would like to bag my truck this summer somehow if I can't do it at school... I would have to invest in all my tools first... And they are not cheap!

Thats kind of how i got mine.. The lcollege of technology buys like 15 welders for each semester, then trades them in for new ones.. the the welding equiptment store sells the used ones... maybe check to see if your local welding supply store offers the same deal... i got my lincold 135 for 475 bucks, used with a full bottle of c02 and cart

generally a bit cheaper..... with a bit more adjustability

Lol, I dunno what gets better than an infinite adjust... Unless your not talking about wire speed or voltage?
