Oh wow! Today was one hell of a wake up! Heres the story, because its all I'm good at telling!
Alright, the morning was good, afternoon comes, I have to give my sister a ride to work. I was leaving her work, and had to cross another parking lot at a bar to turn onto a busy street to get to the street I had to go down to get to my work. I get to the stop sign and had to wait about 2-3 minutes for traffic to clear. I could have taken my chance and got into traffic, but I decided not to.
I'm thinking, "Awesome! Trafiic is clear, lets go! Wait, there is one more car coming, dang!" I see another car across from me and it had not turn signal light, so they are going straight. I decided that I would'nt take the chance and would let her go. Becuase, with me and how things are on the streets now, you have to drive for everyone else.
So this car opposite from me starts coming across the street. I look to my left, and that one car is still coming. I have to wait for it to clear. The lady was in the lane closest to me. The other person opposite from me crossed 4 lanes. I'm seeing everything unfold RIGHT IN FRONT OF MY EYES! At this VERY moment, I was asking myself, "Do they not see each other? Why is she still coming towards me? Why are they not swerving or slowing down?"
I could feel, something was going to happen. "This is'nt right, why would someone come across like this and time it so badly?" ...and at that instant, everything was told to me in the sound of, "Koosh!"
..Oh crap! "I hope they don't hit me!" The lady going down the steet adjacent to me T-bones the other lady coming across! I brace for the worst. THANKFULLY the force of the crash was'nt enough to hit me! It was close enough for me to sh!t myself! Matter of fact I'll check my boxers after this!
I instantly sigh, and drop my face into my hands. I was severely disappointed that I had a premonition and that I did'nt react to it. I turn my truck off, and instantly jump out of my truck to help. I go over to the lady who t-boned the other to see if she was okay. Fortunately, BOTH were okay.
I then immediately call 911. I walk over to the other girl, who at this point was in shock screaming, and crying her eyes out. Through all the, "aahhh", and "oh my god"! I got an okay. I go check on the other lady to check on her. She was okay.
This lady was in a Toyota Camry and the other was in a Chevy Impala. I was instinctively acting on something. I did everything I could to help, and actually almost lead the exchange of information. I was the least shocked, I think. I was definitely shaking and breathing pretty hard enough to notice I was out of tune!
I took pictures, exchanged numbers. By this time the fire dept. arrived and then the cops. The lady in the Impala, turns out DID NOT have her license and was supposed to attain it the next day! Talk about harshness! This is going to be her lesson that she is going to need to learn though!
I could post up a couple pics for you guys to see, but theres not much to see except destruction! The Impala's door, fender and rocker were caved in. I seriously doubt there was any structural damage. The Camry on the other hand, was SMASHED! The whole front end crumpled. This actually in a way is a good thing.
The lady asks me, "You think they will total my car?" I told her it was a funny thing to ask me since I'm in autobody. I took a quick look at it and told her, "No". Nowadays the cars are made to act the way this car did. The more force all the body takes, the less the driver feels. The frames are made to be more rigid than before. The impact is felt less and less is damaged in other areas.
Her hood, fenders, and bumper were totaled! TOTALED! It looked like she hit a brick wall! From what it seemed, I did'nt think it was enough force that anything too structural was damaged. I bet her suspension was affected sufficiently, but I bet her frame is still straight.
Needless to say, I was late to work, and have been out of tune all day. All I could think about is replaying it OVER AND OVER AND OVER in my mind. Asking myself, "Why"?
Everytime, how the car went across, and I thinking, "Man her timing is off if she is trying to get across right after the car passes".
I know there is nothing I can do now, but try and inhale, and exhale. "Wooosa..." I have NEVER have been in a wreck and this is the first thing I encountered to a wreck. I called my mom and she said that I handled it very well. Yea, well, I just need to sit down for a second!
All I have to say is that I'm glad it did'nt hit my truck! I tell myself everytime that my truck being totaled is an abomination! Lol...
Its unfortunate for the woman in the Impala. Shes probably sitting in jail right now... I pray they both will be safe and that they will work this out...
Well guys, how do you like them apples?
