Perusing that oh so wonderful (sarcasm) site called Cardomain,I stumbled across a guy that is using coil spring clamps to lower his car.

Now,my first reaction was "wow, that's incredibly half assed and probably unsafe" and then my second reaction was "I need some for my Cadillac."

Has anyone ever used these? I'm not sure they look that safe. Gotta give it to the guy...atleast he didn't cut his springs.

These have been around forever. Safer than cutting the spring. You can't add more than one set though.

I wouldn't see any harm in it, if you had more than one clamp per spring.

Well, because I am broke as a bum and have no income for the next 5 months and can't afford the $250 lowering springs for my car, would these be a safe, viable option to use in the meantime?

i used a set of the boosters like that on my old dime i had to lift it up enough to drive it and never had a problem with them

On all the cars I've I had I would just cut the top of the springs off. Good for about 1-2 inches of drop. Still rode a little smooth. Just don't heat the springs. That is dangerous.

using those clamps is ghetto as hell.... fuck my nick name is ghetto steve.. and there is no way in hell i wold use those.. the amount of preasure those are under is extremly high.. i would imagine they will break and become a speeding bullet..... as for not being able to afford the 250 for drop springs... heres an idea... just a thought.. if you cant afford to do it right.. why do it at all.....250 is cheap as hell really.. i spent more on that just the metal to fab my truck with... ..... dont cut corners.. my opinion.

if you are already broke, lowering you car shouldnt be on the top of the priorities list. if you lower it, you will have tire wear issues, causing you to have to buy tires earlier. hence spending more money.
