new mini-trucker recruit

So I was finishing up my tailgate handle relocation today, and asked my son if he wanted to try out the welder. His eyes got huge. So I had him wear my gloves and helmet, and helped him for a while. And them cut him loose he has been at it for almost an hour.


and he built a stickman out of some nails


oh yeah he is 7 years old

that is really really cool. how old is he? i remember the first time i picked up a welder. i was like 9 or 10 and it was a stick welder. i stuck it to the metal and couldnt get it loose. went around the corner to get my grandpa and left it there and running because i didnt know any better. needless to say the power company had to be called to repair something in the electrical for the building that i fried. ever since i have been welding and love everything about it. considering he is getting pieces together is really cool and looks promising for him. man that is neat. thats real cool of you of a dad because most dads wouldnt let there kids touch there tools in fear of messing something up. mad props to you and your kid.

that is totally awesome.... hopefully i can get my lil one to do that.....

yeah he is getting an early start on fabbing. I worked with my old man starting about his age, but never got to do anything but basic tools. For being 7 I am really proud of his ability to do this. The only help I offered him on his stick man was to turn the nails sharp side in. But what really makes me laugh is, I asked him about one of his welds. He pops off dad you seen me weld it's not going to break.

bwuahahahahahaha that is what its all about right there. i love pullin in somewhere and droppin the front of the truck and seeing a little kids eyes light up and ask there parents what happened or point and say eewww thats cool i want one. id rather the kids see me then people my age.
