Hey everyone. I was just wondering a few things about the Ontario Licence System if anyone has any idea.

Now, Obviously I know you get the G1, G2, then the G.

I got my Licence on my 16th Birthday, Got my G2 8 Months Later, Then the G as soon as possible after that, and I'm spending over $2,000 for no collision, just fire..theft..and liability, with no tickets or accidents a year for insurance on my 86 b2000.

I've noticed some older buddies of Mine have (I think) 4 or 5 stars on their licences as well. What are the requirements to get that status on your licence? Something about going a certain amount of years without accidents or tickets?..Can't remember exactly though. Do you have to also be insured under your own name for a certain amount of time?

Anyway, just wondering because I've heard it gives a significant drop in insurance prices. Any info would be awesome, thanks.

Ya more or less no accidents no tickets at all, my moms is a 9 star and I at present have her insuring the nissan and all it is costing me is $41.11 and that covers it all. I am telling you insurance is the biggest leagal scam there is.

Well I mean im at the cheapest place, other places wanted like 4g when I first got the Mazdogger on the road. Which is obviously stupid for just liability. I settled for 3200 from ING, now its around 25...or 2300 cant remember exactly.

Anybody know when they send you the card with the white stars in the red background above the licence class?

I have no clue about the stars that you're talking about.

I have my full G. My Mazda in in my mom's name with me as the primary driver. I have just basic liability on it and I pay like $120/mo. I'm 21 and have 1 speeding ticket and 1 accident.

The Cadillac is in my name, and I pay like $320/mo for liability & fire/theft/vandalism.

I'm also with TD insurance (as in TD Bank)...not by choice, just because my family is with them and it makes it cheaper for me at the moment.

im paying $97/month min coverage with safe auto in ga.... just got my license back last november..... 105/55 speeding ticket $430.... 6 months suspension turned into 2 yrs..... (defensive driving $125, dui course $250, unpaid tickets $135, having to deal with giving people gas to take me places turned all those into about $2000) plus the $250 reinstatement and $15 for a 15yr license

the star rating is for how long you are accedent free and ticket free, you can only build that over time

as for price drop when u get older it'll drop when u are 20, but not much and drop again at 25, but having a clean record is a MUST

i have never paid more then 175$ a month for my insurance
right now im paying 100.52 a month for both my trucks, the 4runner has full coverage with a 500$ decductable and the maz has fire and theft

come spring time i put both on road coverage which costs me 153.xx a month fully covered, the maz is listed as a weekend car which they recomend not for me to drive to work or daily comuting, the only way i can get pinched is if i get into an accedent in my truck and someone else gets into an accedent at the same time in the other truck

but... the company my parents and brother are with im not allowed to drive theres cars i had to sign some paper and shit to make there insurance cheaper, im supossedly high risk

with my company, im clean and im a 6 star driver, im not going to complain one bit just keep paying them

and the funny thing is... ive had 14 accedents (none were my fault) and lots of tickets.... like lots!
but for the past 3 years i havent had a ticket for anything,
ive had some speeding tickets but mostly dumb ones
i guess im pretty lucky

Yeah my insurance went down a bit when I turned 20. When I was 18 I was paying $500/mo for liability on a '98 Ford Contour 4 cylinder after I got my speeding ticket for 149 in a 100,which even got reduced in court to 129. I haven't had an accident since 2 weeks after I got my G2,which was January 2003,and my speeding ticket was on September 11,2004,but went through court in March 2005,so it went on my record then,so it's basically 3 years ago come policy renewal time next year.

I also pay a little more for insurance because I keep adding and deleting vehicles on my policy on a 3 to 10 month period. Whenever I add a new vehicle they charge me 2 payments (first and last month's bill) on my first payment for the new vehicle, and then it goes down to my normal rate for the next 10 months,if I even have the vehicle that long. If the new vehicle I get is cheaper than the previous one,I get credited back what I owed on the previous vehicle and put towards the new one.

I have only my G2, I get my G in less than a month. I am paying $170 a month on my 1987 Volvo... It sucks being young and I also have the family discount cause all 4 of our cars are insured with them as well as the 30% good student discount and a few other discounts. I have never had a ticket or any infractions....

Oh btw that is with the minimum coverage.

170 is reasonable for that car. when i was your age i was paying $208/mo for liability on an '87 celica gts with a clean record.
