Does anyone here know what a rotary oil bath is? Or more specifically a rotary oil bath turret? I'm doing this lab for school and have no clue what the hell it is. I attached a picture to give a better idea of where I am coming from. Basically, all I have to do is design a chain drive system for the unit, but I need to have a better idea of what Im supposed to be designing for.

oil bath? for like heating parts and/or oil treating them to prevent rust. I dunno.. I heard my old boss say something about it bein the only safe way to heat up a ring gear to go on locking diff... thats my best guess

I think u r right.I have seen something similar used to take very hot parts coming out of a lathe and putting them in an oil bath to heat treat.Only thing I can think of.The output shaft speed is so slow it could not be used to tumble polish I dont think and I dont know why u would use oil to centrifugally separate items.???BJ
