Well I'm just really frustrated among many feelings tonight. I need to do something before I just end up freaking out... So this is gonna be hard to explain but if ya feel like trying to read all this go ahead...

Ok, so I am 17 years old (this is gonna go back a while in my life.) Back in 2005 when I was 15 I started up a company. It started out good, we were only really doing sub contracted work through a company that deals with very high executives. Our sub contracted work was all done by me and I got help from my brother to actually install the hardware I was building. Our first year had a single contract in and around $12,000. I didn't actually end up making all that much money but it was a great experience, I probably pocketed about $4,000 out of the $12,000.

This year after proving myself was supposed to be a great year. The first contracts that I had assembled in about mid June totaled close to the $100,000 mark. We were doing a whole bunch of work for a little thing called Niagara Falls. Well as I am waiting to hear the status of these contracts I am getting toyed around with in some areas needing more of my services and some needing less and eventually its all worked out. I am told that it is all ok. Next day I get a phone call saying that the contracts we won the city took them away from us and gave them to a local company because they thought that the money should be going directly back into the city. I was outraged! It is of all things even illegal to break promised contracts. Anyways, I accepted my losses.

Meanwhile during all of this I was working full time 10 hour days at a body shop. I was making a decent $12 and hour and it was good. The work was extremely hard but I managed it.

At this point there was still about 4 contracts left in line to be dealt with. One was for some changes to be made to the display we did last year and another was to do more work for the same client as last year. The other two don't really matter cause a few days later they got pwned off the list as well.

Now by this time I had gone back to school (about Sept.) Therefore I had left my job at the body shop. I get my last paycheck and end up with about $700 in my bank account. All of the money made during the summer was either adsorbed in my truck or to keep my car on the road. And yes all of it somewhere around $4,000 was all gone. So I have my $700 and decide to start looking for a job to start. Weeks go by, I apply everywhere go to a few interviews but nothing.

It is now about Oct. and that $700 is now completely adsorbed into car insurance gas and some other car repairs. I finally hear that I got the job at a store that isn't opening until the beginning of November. So I decide I will just have to make due.

So the last 2 contracts are finally moving thru the works. Both contracts are sitting in and about $4,000 for a combined total of $7,000. I send off the invoices and am extremely relived. Hoping that I will finally get some money to get my truck on the road which by this point has been sitting for about a month needing to only be certified and probably brakes and what not done. I am assuming I will need about $1,000 so this money would pretty much be a godsend.

So I wait and several days later getting an email back directing me to call the person that subcontracts me. So I call him and we mainly discuss pricing I told him I will try to bring the costs down and send him the new invoices. So the one invoice is for the changes to last years work and the other for new work. He focused completely on the invoice for the changes during our phone call. So I amend this invoice and end up dropping the price by about $600. This brings the invoices for the changes to a grand total of $2700 and the other one still around $4,000.

I send these invoices off and from our phone call prior decide that I should pretty much wait for the cheques, as this work is already late and it needs to get done.

We are now almost caught up with time. These invoices were sent last Friday. Monday I started my new job so I now go to school for full days then get off school at 3:35 and by the time I drive to my work I start immediately (at 4) and work until 9 or 10. I am doing this everyday this week. And btw the work I am doing is SO tiring, we are getting the store stocked from being completely empty. It is a 42,000 sq/ft sports store. (Thats massive btw and has A LOT of stuff) So you can imagine the constant trips up and down the 3 flights of stairs because yes all of my work was on the lower level of the store. But its not to bad I still like it.

So tonight I get home from work and of course nothing in the mailbox. So I check my emails and got an email from the company that basically reads that they decided to drop the new display for this year and only go on with the other. So now I am stuck doing 1 invoice for the entire year and this invoice was raped and pillaged until there is for the most part no profit left. I will probably loose money on this contract anyways.

So now, my truck sits with no money to get it on the road. And working my current job will only be enough to pay for car insurance and gas. I also owe my brother a little over $500 and so I still will be without money for the next few months. My friend has actually been paying for gas as much as he can too.

Next year I am going to university (I hope) and will most likely have to sell my truck. So this truck I have worked on for several years and have about $6,000 into it, if I sell it now I can hope for about $1,000. My cars the same story I have about $4,000 in it and can't find a buyer at any price over $1,000, I will probably just end up scrapping it.

Nothing is working out right now and its getting really hard on me. I work so hard and have nothing to show for it except a POS truck and a POS car as well. I don't have any time to myself, this week I have one day off (Sunday). One out of 7 and I go to school full time. I don't even have time to work on the work for my business.

I am left right now trying to take things one at a time. I think I may have a buyer for my truck but I'll be lucky to get $1,000. As for my car I will probably just end up scrapping it. I have already offered to give away my parts truck for free. Oh and one quick thing, I am tried of the people on here that promise to buy stuff then change their mind. I have had several parts completely packaged up even with address' on them and had people tell me they don't want them now. Its ridiculous and I have tried getting rid of my parts both dirt cheap or in bulk and nothing works so now I am just sending it all to the junkyard and keeping whats worth it. And for those who have emailed me asking for me to send them parts for free off of the parts truck *Since I am giving it away anyways* while all I have to say is thanks; thanks a lot. I will not send everyone parts for free now, the only reason its going to the junkyard is because no one will buy them and I can't keep them so please don't think that that means by default you can have anything you want for free. I tried selling them if you don't want them or don't like my prices well for one bargain and for two don't just wait till I have no options but to give them away.....

Oh and btw thats not really directed at anyone on here, I love this forum its nothing about you guys.

Anyways, I guess thats all I have to say I am just frustrated and frustrated that even when you try really hard and do great work you can and will always get f*cked over in one way shape or form.

I know this is a lot to read but if you just skipped to here while the basic explanation of the above is people suck.

Anyways I'm gonna go take a 'breather' and then go to bed.

Peace out.

Zac

P.S. I don't know why I posted this I am not really looking for replies but if anyone has any advice I'd probably appreciate it.

I am no lawyer but I do know enough about the law to know u just dont "take away" a contract. If somebody signed something that obligates them to pay u for work u have done, then they are obligated to pay it.I would find myself a good attorney who will take a case on a contingent basis (he /she gets paid if u get paid) and sue the shit out of the folks that screwed u.At the least, they may try to settle and pay u some bucks to "go away" and u will be ahead of the game by that much.Sounds to me like they think u r some kid they can take advantage of.Prove them wrong.BJ

sorry to hear bro...
not many attorneys are going to take a case for that amount of money. and plus you would have to prove this money that you were planning on getting from the job was a necessity to live. If its just a few extra bucks to put into a truck not many attorneys would probably be eager to jump in on your side.

It's interesting you mentioned selling stuff and people back out or want things for free.
Yet when some people Pm you they want to pick up parts and don't even ask a price, you never PM back

Granted it seems like you're busy (really busy)
But it works both ways

As far as the rest of your rant goes

I've had a few buddies try and live their lives like you are and all they end up with is a low bank account and tired as hell

Slow down and concentrate on ONE thing
If your not going to make anything selling the car then why not just park it for now and get back to it when you have time?
Same goes for the truck.

Buy a month pass for the bus and deal with it

Hey guys I appreciate what you said. I can't really sue because I am being subcontracted and the person that had contracted me I guess would have been the one that loses the contract but that will obviously affect mine however I think it would be up to him to sue. I do stand up for myself I just don't feel this would gain anything except losing some of my good business contacts.

Jack the dog, apparently I missed your message, I had sent you one asking if you were interested and according to the dates got a message back from you after a couple weeks. I don't know why it got missed but I'm sorry. I replied to it though.

My situation is I am trapped. I will loose money in all situations. I can't park my car we don't have the room for it anywhere. And I want to just park my truck but the fact is if I got to university I will be gone for 5 years. It will not be worth it to have it sit for 5 years. So like I said I am kind of caught right now.

Anyways gotta go to school, thanks for your comments.
