It feels good to see the truck scene returning. I used to be hard core into it. Hell, I proposed to my now ex-wife at the '96 Mini Truckin' Nats in Pigeon Forge Tenn. And my best friend proposed to his wife a couple hours later. I remember when the shows were huge. Everyone got along and it was about having fun. I watched clubs come and go. 98% were doomed to fail. Theres always too much drama. You can count on both hands how many clubs have survived to this day across the country. But the came the Rice Age. And the crowd turned fun good spirited people into little punk thug ass wantabee's. The Rice Age just sucked the life out of the show scene. You used to be able to ride into just about any town on a Friday or Saturday night and find custom trucks and cars hanging out in the parking lots. Now that the Rice Age has all but passed the truckin' scene is emerging from the aftermath. I hope that one day it will reach or exceed its prior splendor.

i agree and oviously all of us are trying to bring it back , i hate all the riced up honda and the jdm v-dubbs it makes me sick , why cant they just do up a sick truck that accually sits on the ground and is alot more apealing to the eye plus we arent loud with our peformance exhausts and we know have to throw awsome parties

Well I could see why the import scene happened. You could buy a cheap accord, buy a bunch of stuff to bolt onto it and bam they thought they had a showcar. The fast and the furious movies pretty much threw gasoline on the fire. There wasn't any fabrication or imagination to what they were building. It was just whatever they could afford to buy and bolt on. All thats surviving from the ashes of that scene now are the real tuners. And they are more about speed then pretty.

I have to disagree here. A lot of the old minitruckers have moved on to older project cars or different cars like vws, bmws, etc. I see PLENTY of obnoxioisly loud minis, and if it's not the exhaust it's some shitty pop rap coming from the radio.

They come and go, and it's just coming back around. Eventually it will fizzle out again considering the level of money you need to have to get respect at shows now.

Just remember minitruckers started with bolt ons as 98% of the mods.

Thats just it. It's going on twenty years now. It already hit its bottom and yet it has survived. As for the show scene, a lot of people are going back to the roots. Static drops are becoming more and more popular again. I used to go to the mini truckin' nats religiously. I saw cover trucks from all over the country. You have two types of people. The ones who loves the vehicles and would do it even if there weren't any shows. And the ones who do it for a trophy. These people ussually come to the realization that you just can't compete with money. You can't drive eight hours to a show and seriously compete with a truck that never moves unless its on a trailer. They get frustrated for not winning trophies and quit. And you can only enjoy hollow victories for so long in backwoods towns with no attndance or poor competition. After a while it won't be enough. I used to have shows get pissed at me because I would park in the parking lot and get bigger crowds around my truck then the ones showing. I don't care about trophies. I got over that my first couple of years in. I got my satisfaction when I would ride though a parking lot and the kids would go crazy. Or when I would see people just about wreck while trying to check out my ride when they went by.

I have to agree with you here. But I blame this on the individual having no repect for the drivers around him/her. When I had my system you could either speed up or slow down if you didn't want to here it. But when I came to a red light I would turn it down. I didn't shove it down the person beside me's throat. These individuals give all customs a bad rep. And I am one of your biggest supporters in thinking that fart cans should be ticketed into extinction.

as a minitrucker that started out with a $100 truck and slamed the crap out it in my backyard i would say that yes what go's around comes around and that yes ricers killed alot of the shows, now you say there are loud trucks as well.. yes there is.. but the ones iv seen more then anything are the guys that are taking trucks and riceing them out.. or the rednecks that have loud pipes.. i beleave in a truck that looks nice sounds nice and dont have to be loud to be ether.. i had a truck that was bodyed and had a full exhust out the back and sounded good, didnt sound like a mad bumble bee or a fart cannon..had a low tone and sounded good for 4banger....but i had the ricer as well and now looking back,.. yes haveing that car made me act like an asshole... there is something about the minitrucking scene that is calmer them anyof the other scenes out there.. and i do mean any...rods.stocks,bikes,trucks,ricers..but also there are assholes in anyscene aswell and we need to remember that they can give a bad name really fast to a good thing we have going..
