So I finally got new plugs, wires, cap and rotor for my truck. I knew it was spring stock wires and purple think they are awesome, but 25 years and 115,xxx miles... yeah... time for new ones. Turns out the cap, rotor, coil and wires were are all still factory. Really? I couldn't get the damn wire off the coil. It's like it's bonded to the coil. Ugh, rotor screws were seized and almost stripped out. Didn't get the plugs out (ran out of light) but they looked to have never been touched either. Hopefully this helps with the miss I have, sure can't hurt. But I was so amused everything was still stock I thought I'd share. Tough little motors.

N iow just need to decide if it's worth the money to seal up the oil leaks (looks like bp put my seals in) or just start preparing for a motor swap so I can get gas mileage and horsepower. If nothing else, equal mileage and more power.

Same here bought a 89 with 172k miles from original owner who said he never replaced anything except battery and oil. It runs ok just alittle rich.

wow crazy yet awesome at the same time...lol you might see a bit better mileage, but i bet not much! depending how long before you are thinking of swapping... if a year or less, dont bother with too much work to try to seal it up, unless you have the time. the parts arnt too expensive i'm sure.
