torsions?

what is the difference in just turning them and re-indexing them to achieve the drop desired? i assume it is the same thing? and i am still confused about how to lower using the torsions ive read the re-indexing thread about 101 times and i just dont want to mess anything up in the process of doing them. Anyone please help lol

The torsion bars have a load on them by twisting the front adjuster. This gives you your reboundlike the coils in a spring . When you loosen the adjuster you reduce the tortsonal load on the bars, thus rendering them rather useless.

To prevent this when lowering the truck, you re-index them so that you get your drop as well as keep the torsional load that gives you a better ride. If you want a big drop, re-indexing is the best way to do it.

when you loosen the bolt to lower the truck the tortion bar adjuster on the end rotates towards the ground. depending on how low you go this causes a problem with ground clearance and possibly getting them caught on something and ripped out. when you reindex them all you are doing is taking the whole tortion bar out and resetting them into the control arm so that the end doesnt hang below the truck. when you take the tortion bar out it will take all tention off of it and the truck will be very low. you have to put a jack under the front crossmember and jack it up to just above the desired ride height them reinstall teh tortion bars. once they are installed and have some tention on them the truck will settle down to about the desired height. then you can turn them down alil to even out the truck or whatnot.

Basically which ever side you're on, take the bar out and turn it 2 splines in that direction (which will turn the adjusting end up)...put it back together. Mark your adjuster bolts ahead of time so you can get it back close to even as possible the first time!!!

tires mostly get all the title stuff worked out tune it up fix the brakes and thats mostly it for the essentials hopefully all this will be done soon im mostly waiting on tires and the title bullshit
