Rear End Question

how can i tell which is shot... my pinion bearing or the spider gears?

I don't think you'll really know until you actually take it apart and look. What symptoms are you having?

Did you check the fluid level yet?

ya i did a fluid change, it was pretty clean. its making a high pitched howling sound but you can also hear metal to metal scraping. i had it up on the hoist and the mechanic could make it howl just by turning the drive shaft by hand, the noise is definitely coming from the pumpkin but he wasnt sure what exactly it was cuz hes not an expert on rear ends.
