Hi folks, I've been lurking on the forum for about a week, I've been looking into an '86 B2000 which I just bought today. It's a stick, runs and starts well, has A/C but the compressor belt is not hooked up (working status unknown). I've been cleaning up the engine compartment so I can see what's what better and help spot any leaks, etc. The body looks pretty solid, though the bed has some holes. The hood and roof paint is faded down to primer which I plan to fix soon. Here in south Texas it's not unusual to find 25 year old (or newer) vehicles with heavily faded paint.
The seat is kind of soft - and shaped like a futon - I've got a line on a parts B2000 a few towns over I'm going to see what he's got available that I can use. I'm considering swapping out the bench for buckets and saw some on ebay - has anyone used those "sport" looking seats before? Or am I better off getting some replacements from a donor car?
I'm not looking to bag it or such, just get it cleaned up and nice again. The rear bumper is cleaned up and repainted, but that's all I've done so far other than clean it. Oh, and the gas tank is leaking and I was going to replace it with new from ebay - or is there an online Mazda shop you recommend?
