4 links and step notches

i have been looking at step notches and four links but i dont understand what the four link does. do i even need a four link if i'm not runnin 20's ?

If you are gonna bag your truck you need a 3 link or a 4 link. How many links you have has nothing to do with the size wheel. The four link holds the rear end in place. Best thing to do is go through everybodys project builds and read read read and then ask questions and learn like a mofo.
