Hey everyone, I am going to begin restoring my 86' Mazda B2000 LX Cabl Plus, 5 Speed manual gearbox, original black and silver two tone paint. I want to refresh her but keeping her as close to factory as I can but also making some slight improvements performance wise. So I am hoping that you will help me decide the best route to go.

She has the original 2.0 carburated engine, in fact everything is all original except her tires and the routine maint items such as exhuast, brakes etc.

I want to just order a crate engine to install in her but I am considering upgrading the engine to one that is fuel injected and maybe with a little more horsepower. Can anyone recommend a newer engine that will bolt on and that will not require a complete drive train change? Also, any recommendations on the supplier for the engine?

Really? I didnt think of that. It would have the advantage of more power. I like the fact that will mount with no drivetrain mods. Thanks for the hint. I will check it out.

So can anyone confirm the newest fuel injection engine that came originally in a mazda truck. I would like the most recent availble that will bolt on. I do not want to change the entire drive train out.

93 EFI was the newest B2200, however you would need a whole setup from one, including ECU, harness, dizzy, and manifolds. There are also some slight cab differences between the two.

If you want EFI go with the Kia setup, but that isn't just a simple bolt and run. For the accessories you will NEED to use the Kia pumps, and make adaptors to fit onto the Mazda hardware. The exhaust manifold on the Kia setup keeps you from using the Mazda pump and compressor. The transmission needs to have a sensor attached to it for the electronic timing. That and you'd have to go through the wiring.
