I will start by saying that I am no expert but and some of this is just speculation. I have been looking for a center console since Jan and when I looked at pictures on here I started to notice that there where to diffrent designs. Then I found one in April and tried to put it in it was 6in off the floor in the rear. Then last month I found the other style and it fits perfectly. I have heard from many people on here that there is no differences between standard and regular cab but that is the only thing I can think of but they are for two diffrent floor designs. Here are some pics to show the diffrences.

The one on the left is much wider and fits in my extended cab. It also is much diffrent around the shifter in fact the whole piece comes out of the wider console.

one could be from a 4x4 and the other is 2wd

i would imagine they use a different floor pan for the clearance of the transfer case

The bigger one is out of a 4X4 truck extended cab, but it fits perfectly in my 2wd extended cab. I did just realize that they are both b2600 trucks maby the floor in the b2600's are diffrent and it is not really a diffrence of standard or regular cabs.

We have both styles you showed above, the left one is a perfect fit to my 91 2.6i ext cab, the other is the perfect match to cortnye's 2.0 single cab, we pulled hers out of a single cab 2.2 that had factory bucket seats in it at the junkyard. Mine was stock in my truck when I bought it. I think its more a difference between single cab and extended cab, I think the 4x4's head their own console for the double shifter setup for the trans and transfer case.

This is what I bought at the parts yard, fit perfectly in my '88 Cab Plus. I did not cut the carpet to mount it, like had been done in the orginal vehicle that had it. And it has no cracks, either, is in perfect condition (the pictures lie !!!). The floor of the Cab Plus already had holes to mount it in the frame, just had to find those in the carpet by sticking an awl up.

I will am still thinking that it is standard and regular cab. I think Leland is right on the money.

I always thought all the reg.cabs came from the factory with a bench seat

Some do some don't. We happened to find Single cab with buckets, all factory, and it had a shorter center console than my ext cab. That's the only reason they should be different. Different floor pan between single/regular cab and the extended cabs...
