the 1156/1157 bulbs around the truck are slowly burning out and I was looking to replace them with brighter hyper white bulbs. looking through ebay most everything I'm finding are either LEDs or SMD LEDs and I was wondering if anyone are using these and how they compare to the standard hyper whites. I can buy pairs of the LEDs or SMD LEDs from EBAY for a few dollars shipped, from hong kong of course, but they only show pics of the lighted bulbs vs. showing them in use when they're behind lenses. anybody have info/pics of these, if you like them or not, number of LED/SMDs on the bulb, etc..
sorry for the big pics

Only thing I can say is the OEM bulbs get hotter than the next gen LED or SMD. Some of those after market painted filament type blue bulbs just shines a hint of blue only, like the ones I've tried.

Hyper white or blue/white headlight bulbs are bright and sometimes a road hazard to oncoming traffic.

Does any Auto Parts store in your area have a demo bench for these lights to compare with? Maybe a auto upgrade store/shop?

I prefer the LEDs in the interior dome lights and they are brighter than before.

how is the coverage? The LEDs and SMDs dome lights look like they would give more focused lighting instead of lighting the whole interior

I've been using the blue LEDs in my truck. I can say the OEM clear lights are still brighter. I heard the SMD (next gen LEDs) are way brighter. Have you visited this site below? The Luxart LED with the 160 degree coverage are bright.
