I've mentioned before that Mrs. Cusser's 2010-purchased Yukon XL Denali has very few words to decribe button functions, so many "universal" symbols. So I thought I'd post some, to see if "you people" know what they are:

I've posted this one before, the "we come in peace" spaceman symbol.

This is to lock the 2nd-row doors from the inside, figured that out after taking off the door panel first !!!

thread post photo

I think on the left this is for driver 1 and driver 2 position, but even though it chimes to "say" that it's set, doesn't remeber any settings. Mrs. Cusser says middle is for heated seats, a real "necessity" for Arizona. The right may be for different pedal heights, haven't tried this.

Top is something for autoamtic mirrors, bottom is maybe to lock some windows?

thread post photo

Something for headlights, but former owner Jenny set it up to have headlights come on automatically, so we don't touch this.

thread post photo

Something for wipers, don't know what the bottom is for.

On steering wheel, something for CD player I think.

On steering wheel, this one I know: radio station seek, and volume. See why I like words?

thread post photo

All I know is this does not tell you that there are mountains ahead, or where the next gas station is.

Information and backspace?

Figured this one out: it's NOT for watch out for wagons, this is for when you're towing something.

thread post photo

I figured this out after 1.5 years. This is for tuning the radio manually, see the picture is like the old-style radio tuner with the slide wire. That should really help the 75% of drivers who've never seen that type of radio.

Is this to push when one starts skidding? Good luck !!!

Top part: got most of this. Don't know what "Auto" is. Separate fan speeds for both sides. Diagram is where the air comes out. Bottom: "O" is on-off. Second is recirculation but confusing to me. Middle "solar eclipse" is actually meant to be a snowflake, or "AC on". Two on right are something for defrosters, don't know why there are two.

thread post photo

Overhead console. Top middle is sunroof. Small round buttons are for the two lights. Bottom is for rear heating/cooling module. Middle three: I have absolutely no clue; the picture looks like a house.

Mirror. One is for OnStar which we don't have. One might summon Swiss soldiers or Army Knife salesmen.

Lol.. how old are you Cusser? Just wondering..lol.. because alllll the new car companys use pictures instead of words because the people as a whole are getting way dumber to understand words..

When he was a kid, they didn't make owners manuals.
Cusser... look in the glove box. There's a book in there that deciphers all those hieroglyphics.

My Corvette is just like your Yukon, I think I've finally figured out what they all do, this is why I like my B2000, pretty simple

lol this is good, and it's true, a lot of those pictures do not help much...

Slamson - I'd be late 50s.

But I got to see Mazeroski hit the winning home run in the bottom of the 9th inning in 1960 World Series 7th game and "The Good, The Bad and The Ugly" in the theater when it was first released in U.S. - so you people can NEVER match that !!!

SinCity - we did buy an owner's manual, but it sure seems that every time I try to look up something, it refers to another section, and so on. It's a zillion pages thick. And that doesn't include the navigation system, which is so complex that it has its own book. And one cannot look up something by name or function if one doesn't know WHAT THE #%&&%$@@#$%&*^%% IT IS !!!

Lol.. cool cool.. makes sense.. they are catering to the new younger buyers... the best button you've showed is the car with two skidmarks.. that's the traction control off button.. push that for fun smokey burnouts. But .. buttons are just fun.. press them until you get an answer! Trial and error always works
