ok so thanks to the help of others from this forum i now have all my vacuum lines rerun.i think they are right so confusing. i own a 92 b2200 with a new factory 2 barrel carb. the engine i just had rebuilt from top to bottom and the bored it 30 over my question is this can vacuum lines affect gas mileage. the reason i ask is because i am currently getting about 18 mpg that seems low for me. she does pur like a little sowing machine not alot of power i can get up to about 80 but it is difficult. what is the average gas mileage on one of these trucks

What truck do you have? Is it the regular cab or the cab plus truck? I get around 21 with the B2200 and that is a mix of city and highway, but I also have the Weber 32/36 carb on it. If you don't have that many miles on the rebuilt engine yet it could get better as it breaks in. These Mazda trucks have rear gears that are more suited to pulling & towing and less for mileage, so you probably won't get too much better than low 20's in the MPG department.
Welcome to the forum also!

19mpg on mine, since 1994. 1988 B2200 Cab Plus, 5 speed, use AC most of the year (Arizona). I have cross-bed tool box with at least 100 pounds of stuff in there. But I might be saving some weight soon if I ditch some cassettes for their CD equivalent.

OMG, I just about had a heart attack... cusser is contemplating the purchase of a CD player.............. ???

Well........ maybe by the year 2040 he will have a car stereo with a USB connector or iPod so he can play MP3 files... lol

Nnnnnnnnnnnooooooooooo! Don't do it! We need you to keep that cassette player and cassettes in your truck. If your stereo is broken, I'll send you mine. My truck came with a nice 1990s Pioneer AM/FM/Cassette that I will be replacing with one that has satellite radio and an iPod interface.

But seriously, back on topic, I also heard that by using bigger tires, you can effectively change the gear ratio. First I have to do a lift, but then I'd like to put on a set of 235/75R15 tires. The speedo won't be that accurate anymore, but it should help with looks, ground clearance and fuel economy, in theory.

I also heard you can swap in a Toyota diff... not sure how easy that would be, but I guess the Toyota rear end is more geared to fuel economy than trailer towing.

I typically get 24-26mpg almost all interstate, b2200 extended cab, factory carb. I think my timing lags a slight bit, so I think I could do even a little better if I advanced the timing - but I have a lot of hills and mountains to climb so I don't have a lot of room to play.

1989 B2200 5 speed, short bed/cab, i get about 150/160 miles out of a tank of gas, 14 gal.

Oops, i misspelled that, i'm getting 250/260 miles out of a tank of gas. Jeesh.

Wreck, if you have the stock carburetor on your engine, check all your vacuum hoses and if they are not broken/leaking anywhere, then you may need to test or install a new O2 sensor.
Sounds like the ECU has sensed something amiss and has placed the carb into "limp mode" or the carb needs a good cleaning/rebuild. You should be getting around 20mpg at least.

I just got back from Ohio, i live in northern California, oil change before i left and an oil change when i got there, before all of this i had three head bolt come loose, retightend them added barsleak because of loss of coolent/white milky stuff in the oil cap made it to oklahoma at 50/55 mph. replaced the head gasket and the radiator, ran it to running temp, let it cool overnite then retourqed the head bolts, ran it to running temp let it cool again then checked the tourqe and drove to Ohio at 65/70 running 1/4 up on the gauge. checked the tourqe again, all bolts tight, drove back to california 65/70 i checked the tourqe again ,all tight. Felpro gasket. Good little trucks.

i never got below 22 mpg with my old standard cab.
even with 350 pounds of sand in the bed and studded tires on it for the winter.

i typically get 25+ out of it.
i have yet to determine what my new extended cab is going to get.
im currently at 260 miles on just under half a tank.
