I think I found this picture here at MazdaBscene but I don't remember... Anyone know what these wheels are from, or if they're aftermarket? They have the new style Mazda logo on the center cap, but that could have been added afterwards, so no guarantee they're Mazda wheels. They look like they might be some OEM wheels, just wondering what they're from. And if that's your truck, it looks kick @$$! Love that look! Clean and subtle.

Those wheels look awesome on this truck! Maybe it's the height the truck sits at, maybe it's the light blue color paint with those silver wheels, maybe it's the windowless canopy/cap. Or a combination of all those things.

If you recognize those wheels, let me know what they're from, or who makes them if those are aftermarket wheels. Thanks!

Those are early '90s Mitsubishi Montero rims, on aluminum hub center rings. 215/65/15 Yokohama Avid tires. OE Mazda hubcaps, with modern Mazda logos added, from an eBay vendor in Bulgaria.

The offset isn't quit right. I doubt they'd tuck on 2WD sheet metal. With my 2" drop, I've had no issues.

See my garage for more info.

Awesome! Glad I found the owner of this truck! Those wheels really set off your truck nicely. Almost makes me want to lower my truck 2" instead of lifting it 2" and going with taller tires. Then again, that might look good too, with those rims. Those rims are the style I had in mind, just didn't come across any. I'll have to check eBay or Craigslist for a set and then sell my Nissan rims.

I'm not sure what you meant regarding the offset... did you think I would, or would not have any trouble clearing the stock 2WD sheet metal? Currently I'm at stock height, but I could lower or lift the truck a couple of inches. I was planning to lift it. Might not look that bad with Montero rims and maybe 235/75R15 or even 215/70R15 tires.

Looks pretty slick with the 215/65R15 tires and the 2" drop you did. Right height and tire size to pull off the look. And how did it change the ride and handling of your truck?

If you lower no more than two inches, and don't carry more than 600 pounds, you won't have any trouble. Well, I do get mud spray on my bodywork. I may add some tiny mudflaps.

I've been trying to find out the offset of the stock 14" Mazda 2WD rims. It does not appear to be stamped anywhere on the rim and I can't find it online. Nor can I find this info for my 15" Nissan wheels. A quick visual check of these wheels shows that they all "appear" to have the same offset, but that's definitely not a precise method.

I don't plan on carrying heavy cargo all the time, but on occasion I will. I don't want to run into clearance issues. The steel (chrome) 15" Nissan wheels I got are a bit narrower, I think 6.5" but the aluminum ones are 7" wide. I may run into clearance issues with them. Not sure if they're like the Montero rims, but I suspect they might be.

Incidentally, all of the Montero rims on eBay right now are for single wheels, many around $75 each. Buying them individually and paying for shipping on each could get pricey. Too bad there's no sets of 4. Can't find any on Craigslist either.

In fact, the offset may be fine. My tires are 10mm oversize. I like 215/65/15 because the tread diameter is identical to stock 205/75/14, so no gearing change, or speedo/odo error.

I'm tempted to instal air adjustable shocks, to help for heavy loads. But I don't wanna give up my KYB- gas-adjusts.

I paid $80 for all four, from a nearby, Craigslist seller.

If you don't already have them, you'll need to buy mag wheel style lug nuts. I found a good deal on the bay. Search for: toyota lug nuts 24 (double check size and thread pitch, but you should be OK)

here's some from the seller I bought from. No issues, great price.

Ride/handling: handles far better. Ride is firm, not harsh. I hit the (unmodified) bump-stops often enough to keep the adjacent metal clean.

Cool, thanks for the tip on the lug nuts! I will probably need those - the ones I have probably won't work. It would be really cool to find a set of those Montero wheels from a local Craigslist seller, but unfortunately, Mitsubishi didn't start selling vehicles in Canada until 2003, so it will be hard to find a set of those wheels locally. My only hope is for a used set to come up on eBay, as long as the shipping won't be outrageous.

But, my aluminum 15x7 Nissan wheels (from a 1997 Pathfinder) look similar to those Mitsubishi Montero wheels - see pic below. I discovered that if I leave off the stock (and very chunky looking) Nissan center cap and use the stock Mazda center cap, those wheels look pretty good. The Mazda center cap will need to be modified to fit properly though.

My Nissan wheels are absolutely mint. But I'd love to paint them graphite or gunmetal gray. It pains me to sand and paint a set of wheels (with a rattle can) that have an immaculate factory finish. Are your rims painted (either by you or from the factory)? They look slightly darker than plain aluminum and I like it.

As for shocks, I should probably upgrade mine and install some kind of load helper kit to prevent the back end from sagging or bottoming out when the truck is loaded with cargo. Now I'm undecided if I want to lift the truck 2" and use big meaty tires 235/75R15 tires, or lower it 2" and use 215/65R15 tires. (I used a tire calculator and you're right, that size you are using is virtually identical in height/circumference to the stock tire size).Either way, I could still use my Nissan rims, or a set of Montero rims if I can get some.

Thanks for all the great info and inspiration! My truck is red and also has a cap/canopy but with side windows. And I've got the aluminum Nissan Pathfinder wheels, so I could almost pull off a similar look to your truck - either lower or lifted a bit. Looks really clean debadged too.

Hub center rings, will make the Mazda hubcaps fit. I had mine custom made for $100. Though I recommend finding a local shop.

I don't remember the exact bore of Mitsubishi rims, but it's not the 108mm listed on many websites. it's 107.7mm or 107.8mm or something. I assume Nissan and Toy rims are similar. Be certain your rims a measured precisely.

It's important to center the rims perfectly. I'm told that with careful installation, you can omit the hub center rings. I prefer to take the safe play, and use rings.

There's naught wrong with those Nissan rims. I bet they'd look sweet with Mazda caps, and 215/65/15 tires.

Great, thanks for telling me about the hub center rings. I was wondering about that larger diameter opening for the hubs and what to do about them. And that would be great if I could use the stock Mazda hub caps with them.

Are your Montero wheels painted a slightly darker shade of gray? If so, did you do it or is that the way they came when new? Or maybe it's just the lighting in your pictures. Either way, they look good in that shade of gray.

OE Mitsu. paint as far as I know. Sun lit from behind, with fill flash.
