So I lost my only key. The dealer can't pull the code from the VIN cause it's too old I guess ('82 b2200 diesel). I'm way out in the country and a locksmith wants $80-100 to come out.

Anybody know if there's a code stamped in the truck somewhere? I checked and there's nothing in the glove box. I found a 4 digit number on the back of the ignition cylinder, could that be it? Is it stamped on the door locks? Anybody know what the code should look like? How many digits, alphanumeric, etc? Any other tips or ideas?

Thanks for the help.

Can you take the door lock to him to cut a key?

I think I can help here. I've got the original keys for my B2200, and they have a four-digit number stamped on them as the key code. So it does sound like you have located your key code.

Thanks guys. So the code on the ignition cylinder is for something else but the key code is 4 digits as Cusser says. It's located on the passenger side door lock which is pretty easy to get to. Even with a truck this old I was able to call the dealer and get it cut from the code for $10. I could also have brought the lock to a shop and gotten it cut to that for $35-40. I'm cheap though so.... $10 was good. Hope that maybe helps someone down the line, thanks for yalls input.

I also am in need of keys. the Mazda i bought they broke the key off in the ignition so i use a screw driver to start it. doors are shaved, so no code off pass side lock. any other options?

Locksmith. If you pull the switch out and take to locksmith shop, should save some $$$.

Or used lock cylinder from parts yard that already has key(s). I'll bet someone on this site has a lock cylinder with key for sale.

where exactly on the passengers side door lock is it ?? is it on the cylinder ?? or on the door its self ???

It's on the cylinder. You will need to remove it to read it. It may also need a little cleaning up to read it... but it's stamped in.
