Ok, ladies and gents. Just bought my second B truck three weeks ago and have been blowing this website up ever since. I bought an extra cab 1990 B2200 with 79k miles. A few minor mechanical fixes have been done, but the truck could still be sold at about even for what I have in it.

I have since found a very cheap but very high mileage 1992 B2600i extra cab. I am seriously considering buying the 2600i with the sole purpose of taking the engine out and rebuilding it. The 2600i engine has more power and fuel injection (better gas mileage) than the 2200.

Both trucks need some body work, interior work, and paint in the worst kind of way, so that's a moot point.

So the question is " To buy or not to buy"?

Insight? Lay it on me.

The 2600 won't fit the 2200, the main crossmember and the oil pan on the 2600 engine collide, you could do some cutting and welding to make it fit, but it won't just bolt up. Look in the (for sale trade ect.) in the forums here on this site, theres some pics of it being done.

I think my explanation of my dilemma was a little confusing. I want to take the 2600 and rebuild the engine for the 2600 and just sell the 2200. Kind of cut short my 2200 project and begin a project on the 2600. The question is Is it worth the trouble to buy the 2600 and start it or just keep what I got in the 2200 and continue on with it. Is the 92' 2600i with 245k miles a significant upgrade (after an engine rebuild of course) over the 90' 2200 with 79k miles? I could sell the 2200 and break even right now, so the issue is the significance of upgrade. If I'm not going to get any real tangible upgrade, then I'll just keep the 2200.

Thoughts?

I don't know, i have a 89 B2200 and i'm kinda partial to it, it is kinda small, the B2600 is a little bigger truck. Your B2200 with 79,000 miles on it, i would keep that one if you can and buy the 2600, and put the 2200 on the back burner while you rebuild the 2600.
