I used a piece of small-diameter tubing slightly larger than my shifter, and drilled and tapped it for set-screws to lock it down. I topped it off with a skull shift-knob my six year old got for me. The only problem is when I shift into 3rd and 5th gear, I hit the rearview mirror (yeah, it's tall, but it looks killer!) I found a shift boot that came up high enough to cover where the extension and the shifter meet. Kinda gives it an old rat-rod feel......
