My !988 B2200 has been my daily driver since Aug. 1994, but never was our "family car". That said: the farthest from home I've had it has been about 450 miles, to go on a 5-day cruise from San Pedro, CA driving from Phoenix. I've driven it to Flagstaff, AZ (150 miles) as recently as June (Fathers' Day) to watch my youngest play baseball and still return to Phoenix for Fathers' Day dinner with oldest and Mrs. Cusser.
And I drive it to Chino Valley (105 miles away) at least once per month.
Breakdowns: I had it stall out going 60 mph on a major road in town in the late 1990s, it was a bad ignition switch. Mrs. Cusser (who drives it way less than 0.1% of the time) had the clutch go out (slipping, just worn out) on a big mountain about 2005; she just has the knack of things going wrong while she's driving. That's the only time that truck has needed towing. I heard about that for years, that the tow driver had only a few teeth, and she was scared.
In 1986, she took over as driver of my 1970 VW on the way to California, so of course within minutes the engine case cracked. She has the Midas touch: everything turns to mufflers !!!
