Is it an aftermarket deck or stock ? If it is a aftermarket deck I would recommend running your power wire directly to the battery and run a ground directly to the chassis. Stock wires weren't designed for hi power aftermarket decks.

I believe that Black/Red is the switched positive, Red/Blue is the battery positive (for stereo station memory and clock). For ground, run a wire to bare metal bolt/connector on the body like where the console mounts, or drill a hole and ground the wire using a sheet metal screw.

Check the wires with a 12 volt test light or voltmeter first though. Switched on wire should only have positive voltage when the key is in the "on" position.

Don't know how to use a 12 volt test light or voltmeter: take up another project.

And disconnect a battery terninal when actually tapping into the wires/system. Consider getting a plug-in adapter from an online or Ebay retailer.

yeah it is an aftermarket deck but a cassette one so i would still have to run a power wire directly to my battery

For a new ignition-switched wire, you can tap into the fuse labeled "cigar", that's for the cigarette lighter. There are little adapters sold at the parts store which go under the tab of its fuse and have a male push-on terminal, and you could add that way, that's what I did for my add-on cruise control power.

For a new always-hot wire, you can tap into the fuse which controls the interior lights, believe it's labeled "room" of all things. There are little adapters sold at the parts store which go under the tab of its fuse and have a male push-on terminal.
