Hi all. New mazdamowner here. 87 b2600. Piss worn out but just a cheap beater to get to n from work. So, only had it amcouplemof days now, and I've noticed I have to give it an abnormal amount of throttle to take off. I can feel the transmission engage as soon as I let up on the clutch, but I have really get the rpms up in order not to kill it. Ive had sticks before but usually you'd only have to give it a little gas and the tranny does the work. Worn clutch you think? What would be some things to look at to solve this? Also, the gas pedal is really stiff so it makes it worse to get that sweet spot when taking off. Thanx for any info.

Could be carb issues. If the rpm's increase with limited mph increase that would be a bad clutch. The linkage is messed up on the carb on our 87 and the gas pedal is really stiff, and even has a spot where it catches, but you can push a little harder and it goes a little more. Look into the carb first, unless the rpms/mph matches what I described above, then check into the clutch instead.

Typically, when a clutch disc and/or pressure plate wears out, the clutch will slip and the engine rpm will go up way out of proportion to the increase of speed of the vehicle.
