Hello, i apologize if people have discussed this before.

I picked up my grandma in law's long bed a few months ago since she is a little too old to drive it these days. Since then i've lowered it about 7" and installed an LSD. It handles really well (for a truck) but a real limiting factor is that it has "85" hp. Aside from an engine swap what can i do? and in your opinions what its the best dollar to hp ratio?

Good to meet you all! and thank you.

I love these trucks! But not much you can do for noticeable power! The fastest I ever seen the convertible it was on a roll back!

It depends on what you call 'easy.' To max out the capacity of these engines with the 8v head, you can put in a different cam, a Weber 38, open 2 1/4" exhaust with headers, larger exhaust valves, and an MSD blaster coil with 8mm wires complete with bigger gap spark plugs. With all of this you might break 100hp. What you will notice with such a setup will be more useable power between 3-5K rpms

"best dollar to hp ratio?" nitrous oxide.

cheapest and easiest is eliminate weight; get rid of spare, jack, cut the floor of the bed out..... endless possibilities.
