Well I finally got my motor in and running damn good but I've got a ? How long does it take rings to set and also my truck still smokes like hell but I know its gotta burn off the old oil from in the exhaust manifold and through the pipe. How long does it take that to do or does it just vary any and all help is appreciated

NO MORE than 500 miles. Make sure you vary your rpms (if auto) during the 500 mile break in. Dont be afraid to rev up to 5000 every once and a while so that the rings will make sure to seat at the highest point possible.

After 500 miles do a full oil change. If you are using hydraulic lifters, don't use more the a 10w oil, if you are running adjustable rockers, you can use up to a 20w.

I am getting an oil that is specially made for performance motors ($7 a ct with my 40% Napa discount) lol. It's 25w with a zync additive! I am not running a stock motor though. I am bored 20 over, 260 grind cam and 30 over on my crank bearings. The bearings being oversize allow me to run a heavy performance oil with no issues. NOT recommended for a stock motor.

So yeah, any other questions, post em up!

Well before I tore the motor apart I was getting oil on my #3 spark plug. I mean caked on it. But I did a full rebuild. And bored. 020 over but I just got it together and started her up and didn't smoke more a few mins then started smoking like crazy. I have got all mg air ride hooked back up so I can't drive it til Friday afternoon when I get off work and everything back working right. I just hope somethings not messed up or do I just needa drive it awhile

It's normal to smoke for a little in the engine bay. Fresh paint and all that will cook and burn. Mine smoke for like 20 minutes or so.

No I mean smoking like hell out the exhaust. But I know It needs burn old shit out the exhaust cause it was leaking oil in the cylinder. So there's no telling how much oil is in the exhaust to burn out

Have you checked your cat? Mine was completely filled with oil and shit. Had to punch it out.

No but before I started it today I took the #3 plug out cuz that's the one I had a problem with before and it had oil on it just like before so that's where my smoking is coming from but the guy guarantees its nothing inside the motor but he said to check my intake for oil coming in somewhere. And I've replaced my PCV valve and still smokes. So I'm lost and that's the only place on the intake where oil could come from. So plz help me

Is this a cracked head that both shops missed

Sad to hear.
But it figures with one cylinder being so rooted.
