I've noticed that alot of you guys have swapped out the 2wd sheetmetal for the 4X4 goods. I am curious as to why. Is it just for looks? Is it to fit larger wheels and tires? It looks great, but then again, I think these trucks look great standard.

I have 4X4 front fenders on my truck because the only donor I could find was 4X4. My truck is standard 2wd. My bed is still stock, and I don't have any plans of changing it. One day when I get the camera situation straightened out I'll post pics. Probably makes mine one-of-a-kind, but that wasn't the goal. The goal was to replace my smashed fenders for $40.00. If it looks better than standard it just does. If it looks retarded, only Mazda people will ever notice.

From what I know it makes tucking your rims n tires into the fenders easier when laid out... Plus they look better Imo. The rims I have on my truck are almost flush with my 2x4 fenders, I'm looking for 4x4 ones so when I bag my truck I will be able to fit my rims under the fenders.

That's what I understand of it.

They also allow you to ride lower and still turn.

Cool. One of those things I've been curious about for a while. I can see in the pics why it would make a difference in your ability to steer a laid-out ride.

There's so much I want to do to mine. Custom sheetmetal didn't figure in. If there had been a 2wd in my Pick-N-Pull yard I would've got those fenders instead. But honestly, I like the more aggressive flare of the 4x4 fenders just as well.

They give 3/4 inch more clearance and also tuck 3/4 inch more tire/wheel.
I have seen lots of guys running just 4x4 fronts in minitruckin mag.

Fenders are easier to change by yourself than a bed is. I had 4wd fenders and a 2wd bed on mine years ago. Had planned to find a 4wd bed but ended up going with a flatbed for mine instead.
