I recently went to a local salvage yard to find a replacement motor for my 87 b2k. I found one with 76k miles no leaks, new gaskets, and in pretty good shape. I get it home, replace the gaskest, oil pan, water pump, everything that intended to do anyway. Everything went well, untill it was time to replace the timing belt.upon further invetigations I found out it was a 2.2 not a 2.0 as was supposed to be, so I go and get the right timing belt. It doesn't fit. I thought the parts place gave me the wrong one, it Doesn't fit. Tjere is too much slack. The tentioner is all the way over, but nothing. After the third belt, ive given up all hope.
Are there any suggestions on what my issue could be?
Are the heads interchangeable, and if so, would that make that much of a dramatic difference
Please help. Ill try to post some photos.
