Is anyone running a 2.2motor with a 2.0 head, if so, what timing belt did you use

You will need to use the 2.2 belt. You will also need to use the cam gear off of the 2.2 cam because the 2.0 cam gear is thinner then the 2.2's.

The heads are the same. The difference is the cam profile and hydraulic lifters for the 2200, or the manual adjusters for the 2000.
Your block is 2200, right? Then run the belt for the 2200.

Thanks for the feedback. And yes the block is a 2.2.
Is it possible that it was driven like it sits with the 2.0 head? It did have a belt before we tore it apart, im kicking myself in the ass for not keeping it.
And is the 2.2 gear larger in diameter?

It's entirely possible to have had a 2.0 head, but without it(or pics of it) there is no way to verify.
The cam gears are the same diameter, and have the same number of teeth. The width and timing mark options are the difference with the gears.

I just did the head swap to a 2.2, your 2.2 front distributor housing is needed in the swap so yours will still say 2.2. even with a 2.0 head, the cam gears are the same, and the belt for the 2.2 is longer so you would b running a 2.2 belt as well. the difference in the two trucks (2.0, 2.2) is bore and stroke, b2200 has a longer block (longer stroke) and non adjustable (hydrolic) rockers or lifters or whatever u call them. b2000 rockers are adjustable. other than that everything els is the same that I can remember.

Funny, years ago I built quite a few B2200 motors and swapped heads, did custom cams, pistons etc. and never thought twice about the distributor housing - thinking back, I am pretty sure I used 2.2 distributor housing and 2.2 block with 2.0 head ( I had to rebuild a head so why not start with a solid lifter head)

Can anyone else confirm you need the 2.2 front plate if using a 2.2 block?

I did use 2000 pistons to get higher compression.
