I have an 86 B2000, I lost my keys...but I know they are somewhere in my house. I have a spare that works in the ignition but not for the door locks or the gas door. Here's my problem... I am running low on gas and I haven't found my original keys yet, does anyone have a trick for jimmying it open without really damaging the gas door(i'm sure my keys will turn up soon) If not what technique would you use to get it open with the littlest damage possible... Thanks in advance!!!

I was able to pry the door open just enough to use a thin flat head screwdriver to push in the "locking tab" and the door popped open. The 'locking tab' that the locking mechanism hooks onto has a little spring/give to it... you can push it in enough so that the 'locking mechanism' can clear the 'locking tab.' Sorry, this was hard to explain without the correct terminology!

Glad I figured it out before I picked up the drill!!!
Now i just need to find them damn keys!!!!!!

If your gas door lock and the passenger lock are still matched OEM, then you can pull the lock from the passenger door and take it to a locksmith. There will be a code on it from which they can cut a new key. The code is only on the passenger lock, not the driver side.

You might call to get a quote before you take it in. I've been quoted as low as $20 and as high as $65 so it pays to shop if you decide you have to do it.
