I have a 1983 B2200, diesel, with no ac. If I were to take the ac parts from a b2200 in the junkyard, would that work? Can I bolt on another gear to drive the ac belt? I'm looking for the cheapest way to get ac, even if it doesn't work that well. Would it be easier to just use a 12v ac unit?

The R2 Diesel's Engines and your average F2 Engines are not to much different from each other as far as the short block is concerned, obviously the head and pistons and the type of fuel used is different but you get my drift. Your injection pump on the R2 mounts where the a/c compressor would have been on the F2. The R2 has a different compressor mounting location which is right below the injection pump, which is where the power steering pump would have been on the F2. So that said the brackets from the F2 will not work on R2. Making it work, Your biggest challenge would be obtaining and fitting the evaporator core/housing and finding all the factory brackets to mount the a/c compressor and so on your R2. Unless you fabricate your own. Not very many R2 B-Series here in my area so id be screwed if i was trying to do the same.
