So about 2 weeks ago I saw a ad on craigslist for a B2200 short bed at a car lot.
Since I'm looking for a B-Series, I drove about 20 miles to take a look at it. It's in decent shape, but I decided it had a few too many dents and dings for my taste so I passed. Also it came from up north Canada. Had Kilometer speedo with 435,000+ kilometers (270,000 miles) on the odometer. The body actually had no rust but the undercarriage looked kinda rusty. I imagined lots of broken bolts and nuts if you wanted to work on it.
Now today the same truck shows up at work. (I work at a large national auto auction). I imagined again how well this truck would look slammed in my driveway, but concluded it's not quite what I'm looking for.
So it runs thru the auction ok... but minutes after it's parked, a engine fire erupts under the hood.
911 & FD called. We moved a dozen cars parked around it. Another worker managed to put out the fire with extinguishers. FD showed up to make sure it was out. Fire was contained to the engine bay. Mostly wires, plastics and what-not burned.
Anyway, sad to see this truck go down like this, but damn glad It didn't happen to me!
