hi everyone,
I'm new to the forum and have some questions, I bought an 87 b2000, and have been doing a ton of work on it to keep it going. the guy I bought it from mickey moused most everything, for example the exhaust manifold studs stripped out so he just shoved a couple large thread lag bolts in, I had to helicoil every single one... the thing I'm stuck on is the o2 sensor, it's there, but not connected, and the wiring diagram has not been helpful. the guy rebuilt the carb, which is another area he put little effort into, I'm not even sure how it runs so well, with as many vacuum hoses are disconnected or in the wrong place. anyways, I'm wondering if the sensor connected to the old air cleaner assembly or not, and where I can find one, because this puppy has to be smogged soon, and as of now, there's not a chance in hell it will even pass visual inspection, largely because of the o2 sensor and lack of oem air cleaner... I wish I had known anything about carbs before I bought it, probably would have passed it up.

other than that, it's mostly just replacing worn out parts, it's never broken down on me, and it runs pretty nicely...

lastly, if anyone knows where I can find a crankshaft pulley/harmonic balancer, I can't seem to find anything at any yards in orange county

thanks!

Orange County... Where?

I believe the o2 sensor plugs into a green connector on the right side of the engine, under/near the intake manifold.

I have a complete factory air cleaner assy. for sale.

thanks! I think I know which one you are talking about.

how much are you asking for the air cleaner assembly?

If you are talking about Orange County in California then I agree, there is limited selection for B's out there, but there are a couple good yards that will have 'em. I grew up in OC lived there until about 3 years ago. I was just down there visiting family (I'm up in the bay area now)

Where in orange county do you live? I lived all around there Fullerton/ Anaheim/ Yorba Linda/ Placentia, Brea, etc. etc. I might know of a few yards that will have some B parts for you to hit up if I know where you are. That truck looks vaguely familiar to me. Its possible I have seen it driving around in the past, or maybe they all look familiar to me now

I live in the same area, Orange/ Tustin/ Santa Ana... bought the truck up in the inland empire though, trucks are better prices out there. I'd love some suggestions on places to check out though, all I really know of are the pick your parts in Anaheim...

I used to hit up Ecology auto wrecking in Santa Fe Springs, was kind of a drive for me but you can call and see if they have any B's - They were about to crush a B when I was there and I snuck into it and ripped out as much as I could before they caught me in the restricted zone . - 13780 E. Imperial Hwy, Santa Fe Springs, CA 90670 - (562) 623-9895

There is one in Anaheim called LKQ Pick-your-Part, that usually had a few B's - 1235 South Beach Blvd. Anaheim California 92804
(800)962-2277

And a LKQ Pick-your-Part (LKQ the local "multiple yard" company down there) in Stanton very close to the other one, 8188.5 Katella Ave. Stanton, California 90680 (800)962-2277 (same phone number) here is there website

Some of them don't keep a very accurate inventory (or at all - some of them you have to just show up and look around) but you can try to call.

I suggest going around your B and making a list of all the stuff you need and take it with you, there is nothing worse than going to the yard and leaving without grabbing something, then they crush it by the time you can make it back! (like clean 4x4 bed and fenders!!!) >:(

A google search will do wonders for you to find a good yard. A lot of the smaller non listed yards I found just driving around industrial districts, there are a bunch of small yards that don't have any listing and I only know how to get there if Im driving, haha. I hope this helps, keep me posted on your progress and good luck!

I used to live in Norwalk, and visited the Santa Fe Springs Ecology myself. I looked at their yard with google maps last night. It looks like they sold off more than half of the yard they used to have... That place was huge 20 years ago!
