Ok so I am further along on my rear IRS swap, I got the assembly all bolted in place with the crossmember welded in nice and strong. The question now moves over to the suspension component itself. I asked for some specifications on the Mercedes forums as far as coil spring compressed length is concerned, so I'll be awaiting an answer from them there. I do have a question concerning shock travel though.

obviously the shock travel is different between the two. (thanks to a PDF from Monroe's webpage)
On the 300D, the shock's extended length is 20", compressed is 15.125", travel is 4.875"
On the B2000, extended is 23.05", compressed is 13.375", travel is 9.750"
I plan on making this truck for mainly highway use and occasional hauling (half ton max in bed, 1 ton max in trailer, will rarely use truck for such.) Would it be better if I went with more travel or less travel? Ideally I'm going to be rolling with stock suspension height, it may vary +/- 1". I can easily find a shock with the necessary mounting requirements.
