91 Mazda B2600i very hard to crank over and will not start. Fuel pressure, distributor, distributor cap and rotor, plugs, wire, coil, cat converter are good. Was starting hard, idling rough and bogging out when driving, could go faster than 35mph. Now it won't even start. Any ideas?

Well, it's been half a day and no one experienced in B2600i has responded.

And I'm one of those not experienced in B2600i specifically, but I'll try.

I think that you may be having two distinct issues. But may be your terminology.

1. When you state "very hard to crank over" do you mean that the engine spins, but slowly? If so, that sounds like a battery or possibly a starter/ignition switch issue.

2. If you mean "very hard to start" but the engine spins normally, that's totally different.

If 2 is what you meant, then that might be the same cause as "starting hard, idling rough and bogging out when driving".

If you meant 1, then "starting hard, idling rough and bogging out when driving" sounds like a separate issue.

Let us know if the engine is spinning normally when you try to start it, or work on that issue first.

I'm not a 2600i guy either or a mazda man for that lol. BUT nonetheless i'll agree with Cusser on this, also have you checked your fuel filter? Mine would do this ( 2200) Going down the road no issues what so ever then just BAM! smack the face of the earth and chug sputter and put till it died, took twenty minutes to re-start. My fuel filter was bad very bad and it only happened intermediately, but if your filter picked up something and clogged itself up then this could be a very simple fix, just my two cents. My engine would spin freeely when cranking and crank hard like it wanted to start but just couldn't.

I checked the fuel filter also, one of the first things I checked. Its not clogged. Thanks though.

scratch that... Just figured out I don't have a mazda b2600 engine, it must be a b2200. I have a timing belt, not chain. Now I have to figure out what year it is so I know what I am working with... anyone know where the engine casting numbers would be located?
