is 1k or a little above normal for idle? i have a 91 b2200 5 speed and i dont see/hear any vacuum leaks. i jus fixed one actually and before i did, it would idle around 1250 and now its constant 1k always below the first small line above 1k. and i noticed under the hood it says 800 is where it should be idling at. ive always had it idling this high so thats why i am asking if this is normal or something. thanks in advance!

1000 rpm idle is normal for me on my 1988 B2200 with Weber carb, because I need that 1000 rpm to idle it OK when the AC is on. And here in Arizona, AC is on A LOT !!!

If you have stock carb, or would like to lower the idle to 800 rpm, first make sure that the accelerator cable is not binding, and that the throttle return spring is strong enough to get things "home".

Got mine idling at 750rpm. Sometimes I notice its as low as 650rpm. Mines EFI, I think mine says 750rpm under the hood.

hmmm. im really new to this so please be patient with me. haha
the accelerator cable is the cable connected to thing curved thing that increase revs when you pull it right?
and what spring would i be looking at exactly?

thanks for the reply tho cusser!

Shoot a couple of photos of the engine and post, then we can tell what you have. A stock carb will have a bunch of solenoids, and was "new" 25 years ago at a time when almost all vehicles had moved to fuel injection. A return spring on the carburetor will close the throttle when the gas pedal is released (tension on the cable removed).

An aftermarket Weber carb has none of those solenoids, and adjusts like a universal carburetor.
