Hello everybody,
So I just recently picked up a 1990 Mazda B-2200 LE-5, extended cab. I'm running through some ideas in my head about what direction i want to go with it... slammed obviously, but the biggest issue I'm having is deciding on what engine to toss in her some day. I don't know if i want to go rotary, 4 cyl. turbo, 6 cyl. twin turbo, Turbo small block Chevy, or a diesel. Pretty much any way I go will get a turbo, but what do you guys think??

Heck......put em all in there!

Seriously though, go with what is the easiest for you to do, fab wise, that way you get it going sooner than later.

Thanks man! I'm thinking of going for as much power as possible now, because my dad and I have decided we want to build something to beat the current Cannonball Run record and I think we should beat it in a B!

A Cannonball run B! That would be a sight to see for sure. You will definitely need to put in an extra fuel tank to lessen fuel stops. I would put a camper shell on it to help lessen the "brick wall" like drag these trucks have too.

Engine, I say 3 rotor 20B turbo! or even a 13B-REW twin turbo out of a 3rd gen RX7. Heck I just saw that they were able to get a 6 rotor engine built and running in an old RX2 or RX3, haha but that wouldn't suit your application.

Maybe a supra straight six 2JZ-GTE twin turbo? I wouldn't go V8 for a cannonball run due to the fact that you will mostly be holding higher RPM's for significant amounts of time. IDK, that's just my opinion, a V8 would work though.

For suspension I would try to do some coil overs. You will be sitting for LONG periods of time so ditch the leafs and solid axle and fab in a IRS from a 2nd gen RX7, plus they came with LSD rear ends so its a win win there. Fab up some adjustable coil overs for the front suspension and get some comfy seats! You may need the better handling to make some evasive maneuvers whilst out running the fuzz

If you haven't seen this already check out this playlist of Alex Roy's BMW run of 32h 7min across the US. Check out the video of some mods he has to his M5. I think the most current record is 28h 50min in a Mercedes.

oh and you will need a really good cruise control unit and rack and pinion steering set up so you don't get massive speed wobble at when reaching 130+mph, just saying, the manual steering rack will kill you.

And you must start a build thread for this!

I suggest "The Captain Chaos [B]uild!"

would be pretty sweet to see a B do a cannonball run

isnt Richard Rawlings and his rich friend from Fast N Loud(gas monkey) the current record holders?
may be thinking of something else

Thank you all for your input, especially you Spacemonkee! Last I knew those Fast 'N Loud boys still had it... I want to beat em hahaha. Once I actually start buildin her for it I will definitely make a build thread on it.
