So i have a 86 mighty max. I know theres a whole forum for maxd50s but that forum seems dead all the time. But....

My carrier bearing is blown out and i was wondering how to get this thing off?! Do i have to press it?

Also as im doin my clutch in this thing i need to set the pedal and all that. It has a cable system for the pedal and i never found a tensioner nut anywhere. Is the cable system tensioning nut usaully near the cab or inside the cab on these old trucks?

You have to remove the nut that holds the yoke(nearest to the bearing) on the shaft.
On a B it can be done with a wrench, but it's so much easier if you breakdown the u-joint and remove the nut with a socket.

Ok so im gonna have to pull the joint apart and get it pressed off?

It should be splined. It isn't pressed on, but rust might have a good grip on it.
Pull the nut, and if you can't just pull it apart, spray some good penetrating oil in there.
After letting it sit for a bit, whack it with a dead blow hammer.

So i took your advice sin city and it works thanks!
Im having another problem though. I just did a clutch in it. So me and a buddy have finaly got the tranny back on and the clutch cable hooked up and theres nothing there. It feels like the clutch is always engaged. When i was taking things apart for this project i could barely even pull the arm back to take the cable off it was so tight. So all the linkage is on, the clutch is installed and torqued right. Does anybody have any ideas? Its almost like as if a hydraulic system had an air bubble in the system. But its a cable and theres no obstruction in its path to the tranny. Could i have installed the clutch wrong?

You probably have the disc in upside down/backward.

Im gonna pull it apart again so ill look at it.
Are the fins on the backing plate supposed to be flat when you torque it down or are they supposed to still be angled in?

The high part of the disc is supposed to face the cover.
