I've been driving the '86 b2k for a few days now and noticed the signals don't self cancel.

I'm 'that guy' now with the signal flashing for two blocks, lol.

Anybody know the fix?

(I just realized I didn't search first, oh well full speed ahead).

Has the steering wheel been removed lately?

Yes. Previous owner had a very nice aftermarket that he removed.

It has the original now.

There should be a White circular collar under the steering wheel (inside the multi-switch) with two pins protruding out toward the driver. These pins are what "connects" the steering wheel with the cancelation mechanism. As the wheel turns it turns the collar. See below...

If that is intact then it may be the plastic cancel "arm" just to the right of the collar.

Do you need a puller to get into it?

Sorry for the dumb questions. I own 6 vehicles and three decided to go down within a week total. I'm on Ford, Hyundai, Chevy and Mazda forums trying to get everything handled. I'm confusing myself with all my questions.

I'm sick of playing taxi and I don't want my irresponsible son driving my b2k for long, lol. If I get his van back on the road my little truck will be safe.......

You can take the nut off the center and give it a good yank and see if it comes off. Since it was recently off it should come off fairly easy

Just loosen the nut a bit - leave it on, then you wiggle and pull the steering wheel. I've heard that the steering wheels don't taste too good, and aren't friendly to Mr. Teeth.

My money is on the little arm to the right. There is a spring that puts a lot of tension on it and every one I've found that doesn't work was due to that piece being cracked in the center.

I have yet to figure out how get this assembly apart without breaking it. Your best bet will probably be replacing the whole assembly. See ABE's thread below to see which style you will need (4 terminal connector or 5) and also how to clean up all the points inside. Might as well clean everything up before you install a replacement assembly.

The older trucks use the 4 pin style. The newer ones have 5 terminals but still only use 4 wires. I put the newer style in my truck and just re pinned the plug.
