I used POR-15 on my frame last year, I wire brushed off the loose paint and rust, and applied 2 coats via brush as instructed, and it is holding up 100X better than I expected, I have some very minor rust stains showing, and we get lots of salt on our roads here, it is designed to adhere to "Seasoned" metal. The paint is not cheap, and only comes in black, grey, or white, but 1L did my entire frame (both coats) and the floor of my regular cab (2 coats). The paint is also not UV protected, so it will need a top coat if it sees the sun.

I'm not sure- but if you want to be cheep maybe try rustoleum paint?

Thanks, I might try some ospho on it, it uses phosphoric acid to convert rust it think por 15 just encapsulates the rust heard good things on both products but the amount on mine I think fits the ospho better, and less prep time. Still not sure how cold weather will affect the application of it and ospho is meant to be painted over so I still may have to wait till it warms up a bit before I use it.

You're definitely on the right track with the rust converter. I use the heck out of it on my Chevy.
