there is an add for two b2200 shortys for under a grand. One drives and the other needs engine work ,would it be safe to tow the nonop without a dolly (four-down is what im told its called by the interwebs)

im trying to avoid paying to tow them as that will lessen the deals sweetness. being picky i suppose for such a good deal.

I have always taken the drive shaft out of a manual vehicle before towing that way or even on a tow dolly. Reason being is that a few years ago a guy brought an older model ford truck to my shop, truck wasn't running due to fuel pump but it cost him a lot more. He towed it with a chain a good 15 miles in neutral. Truck was a standard and when he pulled up you could fry an egg on that transmission. He ended up paying for a rebuild trans, clutch and fuel pump. Turns out when he towed it in neutral the gears did not circulate the oil inside the transmission so he fried it. So if you plan on using the running gear from the parts truck I would remove the drive shaft before towing.

A tow dolly from UHaul should be less than $100. Don't be cheap and chance an accident/injury.

Also known as flat towing. People have been flat towing cars behind rv's for years. I guess I don't see why it would be a problem. Just take the drive shaft out or at least off the rear end and tie it up.

According to the tires, may need a few spares, but yes safe not sorry, drop the drive shaft.
I bought a 55 Chevy sedan delivery wagon a hundred miles away. Had my Chevy spare only, had to put mine on, drive fifty miles home and back with three more spares, used two of them on the way home. Car had set for years.
