so i picked up a cherry 2002 frontier last tuesday
fire engine red and in great shape with only 34 thousand on it.
anyhow, so im going to the casino with my girl last night when the truck hops over a lane and starts making this whap whap whap sound. i pull over and figure its a blown tire, get out take a look and they all look fine and full, keep in mind its very dark out, so i get back in and drive a few more feet, whap whap whap. what the hell huh? so i pull over again and take a better look at the tires.

well come to find out the front passenger tire has lost all of its tread but the sidewall remained intact and its still holding air, im thinking someone retreaded it, wish i could say it didnt do any damage, but i lost my inner fender, lost two clips that hold on the fender flare and royally screwed my rocker panel up, its bad, im pissed. i bought this truck so i could do more to the mazda and now i have another damn project on my hands.
aggravating to say the least.

ill get you guys some pictures tomorrow when theres some light.
who knew a piece of rubber could do so much damage.

damn bro that sucks!

34K and a retread? Sorry bro but that doesnt make much sense.I would check and see if those arent factory tires and see about a warranty fix. Also I sure hope u got a mileage statement, cause 34k on a 6 model year old truck is LOW miles.Hope no one did a speedo number on u.Good luck.BJ

i know its super low miles but they are correct.
the truck spent the last five or six years as a shop truck at my moms boyfriends business, and it didnt get used too much.
the only reason im thinking it was a retread is that he takes all of his shop trucks to this one fleet place for tires and if they figure its just going to be running short trips they probably just threw some shit tire on it.
anyhow heres the damage...

Ouch. That hurts me to look at it.I would still see if there isnt some sort of warranty with the tire.Maybe the retread sho-p has one?Good luck.If I were closer I have 4 brand new tires in my shop I would give u.BJ

god damn man, thats some shit! my buddies neighbor had a similar occurance with regular tires on his ranger (not retreds) driving and the tred came off, smashed half his box in. Sorry to see that shit bro.

That does suck. I had no idea you could re-tread tires other than semi tires. That seriously sucks bad.

Man that sux a$$. Not a retread though. It is your typical sense of tire seperation. Possibly had a patch in it covering a decent whole that messed up the steel threads. Thus causing air and kind of a mushy spot....which leads to seperation. I used to have to adjust tires at a huge tire warehouse. N E Ways good luck with the Nissan.
