Well I'm looking at gettin my wife a toy, this 95 aurora body is in great shape, motor has quite a few miles but still runs good and its sittin on twenty, pretty bad ass. If anyone knows anything about these cars or any reason I should stay away from it please let me know. Any info is appreciated thanks.

I would stay away from the Aurora if I were you. The Aurora was a car that Oldsmobile tried to blend with a Cadillac. They come with either the 3.5 V6 or come with the 4.0 V8. These cars are very expensive to work on and getting hard to find parts for. This is just my opinion. I work in a Chevrolet dealership and we see a few of these cars. They are also a pain to work on. Thats just my $.02. Take it for what you will.

it's a newer GM, expect to change a water pump, alternator, intake gaskets, and valve cover gaskets. Maybe those have been done before and it will be pretty trouble free. Those seem to be the pretty common things I have fixed on 90's-00's GM rigs.

If you have mechanical ability to fix little things when they break than you should be okay. All of these newer cars look overwhelming when you open the hood but I have yet to work on one that has got the better of me. Most of it is sensors to unplug and tedious brackets and covers.

And it never hurts to buy a repair manual either.

Stay the hell away from the Aurora. They are mechanically pretty reliable, bu they are expensive to fix and are electrical nightmares.

My aunt and uncle have a 2002 Aurora 3.5 and it has over 160k miles on it, but so many things have been fixed and replaced on it, they said it's one of the most expensive to maintain cars they've ever had.

I would put the Aurora in the same catergory as a Cadillac Catera, which is AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

I got my Catera with 75k miles on it and that car was the most expensive nightmare I have ever dealt with. The engine blew after 6 months and it only had 105k miles on it when the headgasket AND timing belt went. Electrical problems galore, and the parts are expensive and hard to find.

An Aurora will pretty much be the same way. Don't be decieved by one that looks good and is running well when you look at it. Give it 6 months and you'll regret buying it. I no longer own my Catera, but I am still making payments on it,because it was cheaper for me to sell the car as a parts car than to replace the motor and fix the electrical problems.

Stay away from cars like these unless you have money. Get a Cavalier or something smart, practical and RELIABLE.

so basically, go use the money you were going to spend on the Aurora as a down payment for a new loaded Honda Accord. Now that's money well spent on a good car. Or go buy a 4.0L 4x4 Ranger/B4000.

And I don't even like Hondas. After owning a car like a Catera, I will never buy one of those "niche" or "engineered and designed by" cars ever again.

I have gone from a German-designed and built Cadillac that destroyed itself at 105k, to a 2002 Mazda B4000 that has 250k miles and has never had a major problem that has put it out of commission for any amount of time other than regular maintenance.

Oldsmobile Parts/Cars Review:

Strengths:
Gas mileage, utilizes regular fuel, sleek styling, responsive gas pedal, great road feel, beautiful and comfortable interior, comes standard with all neede options.

Weaknesses:
Occasional gas pedal hesitation, occasional hesitation going into gear, current low resale value.

Run like the breaking wind. The Olds will nickle and dime ya, buy her a Honda it will run forever, and leave you with more money in the end for the Mazda projects.
