Well not that anyone cares but the beast of a dell that I had at MazdaFest a few years back is going into retirement. Today marks the first official day on a NEW MacBook Pro 17. Been working on getting it set up for a few weeks now and have to say I am impressed so far. A lot of new stuff to learn though on a mac. Anyways.... Drag on.

Welcome to the club of apple users

and remember what we say "once you go Mac, you never go back"

Ha bad thing is I am heavily relying on the PC side of the mac. Using Parallels. My AutoCAD, 3DStudio Max and a few other programs do not work on mac.

instead of Autocad, you just convert to Vectorworks, and them you will be even happier

No can do. I use custom menus, scritps, lisp, and actions created by our manufacturer specifically designed for ACAD. Its all good I have my parallels set up to where it is just as easy as clicking a button. So far the tiny key board is the biggest problem. That and the mac for some reason doesnt seem to like my mouse too much. It is a bit jumpy. like the mouse is too fast for it or something, kinda wierd.

That could be due to you using parallels !!!

Why dont you make a Bootcamp install of windows, then you will use all the mac power instead of sharing the power with a OSX that you dont use, or mayby you have some need to flip between the 2 systems ?!?

Running windows in bootcamp, makes the mac the most powerfull machine for rendering, do use my own that way for rendering videos (im a soundengineer and do a lot of postediting)

Yea cant do bootcamp. I am back and forth constantly between the two. Kinda crazy. The system seems to be working fine. And the mouse was sketchy on the mac side before I turned on my virtual machine. It actually works decent in the windows screens. Just wierd. Something different I am sure thats all.

i love my macbook pro. the mouse sensitivity can be changed, and idk if you're aware but they do have Autocad 2011 for mac now and its great i use it on a regular basis in school.

MacCAD is not full functioning. I have had several convo's with AutoDESK and where I use third party add ins I would have to rewrite thousands of lines of code to get it to work right everytime there is an update. Not going to happen. LOL I am happy with it so far. Just not digging the small keyboard and sausage fingers.

I guess I'm just a pc guy I could build a much better system pc wise vs the same amount spent on a mac LOL
