so i was bored and figured this might be interesting...

could be a daily thing like the spotted thread or what have you done to your ride threads...

today i've got bacon wrapped cornish game hens in my crockpot...

here is the recipe i loosely followed... i like adding my own touch to the foods i cook...

the hens are seasoned with butter, johnny's, garlic powder, lemon juice, a little table grind black pepper, rosemary, thyme, and some bay leaves, a little parsley, and then a few strips of bacon wrap the birds. i did add a little bit of chicken broth to the pot before i started cooking it... about 3/4 of an inch at the bottom... probably wasnt the best idea... as the birds have a lot of juice in them... but oh well, who cares... im the one eating it... lol... and everything went in the crockpot hours ago, gonna make au gratin potatoes to go with the hens.

and this is what i look like atm after the 4 hours they have been cooking so far...

so....

what do YOU have cookin?

we made some great burgers last night, groundbeef, 1 egg/ lb to hold it together, bread crumbs (italian and Parisian seasoned), and i added just under half a sacket of onion soup mix. they were so tasty, and i still have 2 more ready to bbq in the fridge for the weekend... or tomorrow night maybe...lol

crockpot meals are pretty much an easy man's way out of actually having to cook... i can cook... i just didnt really feel like putting in lots and lots of effort today... and a crockpot is a way to save yourself from spending all sorts of time in front of an oven/stove. i think my prep time was around 15 mins or so for the birds, i just threw my au gratin potatoes in the oven... tonight was a pretty simple meal... yesterday i did marinara/spaghetti sauce and meatballs in my other crockpot and we had meatball sandwiches for dinner last night... i've felt pretty lazy on my days off... lol

and the recipe that i linked to in the OP says to "Discard the bacon before serving"....

what kind of crap is that...??? who in their right mind throws away BACON?! me... no... im gonna take the birds and broil them in the oven when done to crisp up the skin and the BACON before we dish up... i'll take some pics before we actually dig in

Last night I cooked crab and cream cheese stuffed mushrooms and a shrimp and avocado salad.

Phili light cream cheese, cuz' reg is too rich for the pallet.
fresh crab leg meat, cuz' that canned shit don't cut it in my kitchen.
Fresh dill, I repeat FRESH dill, I don't roll with freeze dried nonsense
Sea salt, salt from the sea, Iodized? Forget about it.
Paprika, mild style cuz' , I'm leavin' the heat for later.
Celery salt, for maximum flavor enhancement via veg.
Mash that shit up, add some fresh cracked black or green pepper corns to enlighten your senses.

Stuff those caps, bake for 20+ mins to desired texture.

Westcoast hand peeled shrimp, cuz' we on the westside son.
Dos avocados, bucked and chizzopped.
Light mayo, cuz' we're watchin the calories in this whip.
Sri racha aka rooster sauce, cuz we bringin' the heat player!
Fresh lime, squeeze that nugget of citrus goodness.
Fresh cilantro, chop chop sucka.

Mix that shit and you're gold.

Chow down homies.

That sounds kinda good.
We've not really had an awesome home cooked meal in a while. Leland's been working 6 days a week, and I'm not that great of a cook anyways. >.>
